Orphans

Its school holidays so we have had all the orpahans coming to Chipembere for almost a month now! We have had so much fun with them its been great. I love seeing them smile and enjoy themselves, its makes my day. Kristen showed them what a balloon is and we allowed them to play with them. They really enjoyed themselves! These are pics of them playing and myself with Ruth(right) and Mercy(left).

New arrivals

We have two new arrivals at Chipembere camp, two grey duikers.
2 weeks ago we received a small Grey Duiker from the missionary in Bangula, we seem to think its a male and we have named it Gigi. He is the sweetest thing, and is being bottle fed about 3 bottles a day which is about 750ml. We have slowly introduced him to some plants and fruit, but he prefers his goats milk. Sasha loves him to bits and has become his adopted mother.
Though the other Grey Duiker who we received about 2 days ago is alot bigger than Gigi and is not well. It was found by someone on the side of the road being sold by a local person. It is not in good shape and has a problem with his back legs. It lies down most of the time as he is unable to pick himself up. At this point we are not sure if he is going to survive. It is also not that tame so he tries to bite and gets a bit stressed out. We are hoping that it will pull through, but first things first it needs to relax and settle in. We are not sure if "it" is a male or female, but we have named it Lucky.

Volunteers

Marco and Stephania from Italy joined us about almost a month ago to assist with some volunteer work at Chipembere camp. So far they have completed our orphanage for our orphans, they have revamped the kitchen which is used by guests and they have assisted with building the lion enclosure. They have certainly been a great help! They have worked hard and are always on the go; eager to help where they can. Moran and Amayi have also enjoyed the Italians stay as Marco and Stephania have prepared their  food for them every day. There stay has been a great one and unfortunately its drawing to a close, on Monday they will be returning to Blantyre to catch their flight home :( . So from us at Chipembere, CIAO!
